    hello,
I've created this account just to bring this to attention of the people who read and run this site. I've been a fan of yaoi for a longtime now and I visit this site frequently. The shota, however, is a problem. Without me realising it, my brain had normalised it. I'd scroll through and see two naked men on the picture followed by a naked infant and I didn't see anything wrong with it! Some of it falls on the fence of teenage/adultish stuff but some of it, some of it features freaking babies for chrissake. Please do something about it. I don't want to be an enabler, in any way, of child pornography. Nobody talks about it on this site somehow but it upsets my stomach when I see it. I know this site is homoerotic, hardcore kinky porn and I will never condemn people's personal sexual fantasies(that would be hypocritical) but some of the shota here is just a 2d drawing away from becoming actual child pornography and I don't want to normalise it, not at all. If this is not possible, please suggest me alternate sites to myreadingmanga.info where shota is not a category at all. I've read a lot unknowingly and even enabled it at some parts but I cannot stand it any longer. Thank you.

You can always filter out by saying "Not shota" in the search bar of MRM. E-hentai is also helpful (and shota is banned there), but you will have to filter out heterosexual and lesbian content.

It's available on the internet, if you keep reading yaoi, you will start reading other types sooner or later. There is no cross-dressing on the site at the first few years as no staff want to check it, but now it become usual contents on the site.

One of our back-up site has no shota and it has been suggested to make the site public, it will ready within next month.

I agree with your take on it. Though we CAN filter it out. The fact that the content is still there is disturbing. Especially since, there seems to be indications from the responses below that it belong in the male homoerotic/gay male category. Some of the fantasies, in the Shota, are totally about raping minors and glorifying their trauma. So there is a darker side in that content, and it has nothing to do with a sexual fantasy. The sexual fantasy present in the manga is just an expression of something...else.

I also came and signedup to the forums for something similar here to say something similar, I was going to ask that Bara section not have any shots in it either. Shota I believe should be removed in it's entirety from the site. While Bars and Yaoi can feature questionable(aka not something any good person would support in reality and things that would definitely hurt someone and have them thrown in jail) themes fantasy rape, blackmail, gore etc... Shots is on a different level not only can this get people put in a situation where they may face legal consequences but its supporting a very dangerous fantasy.

Unlike other fantasy genres and tags that are questionable, shota has a ton of issues.
    1. Its wrong, and its illegal in a lot of places like the US.

    2. Unlike the other questionable fantasy genres a lot of them appear to not be depicted as something bad even if you are turned on by fantasy rape or gore its not normally being depicted as something positive and its normally clear that the victim doesn't enjoy it and that if the perp was caught they would get in trouble without those things it really just appears to promote actual illegal activities.

    3. Its being placed under genres it doesn't belong Bara has about 2 strong definitions "muscular or masculine men" and "made for and by men who like men". Shota doesn't fit they aren't Men they are really really young boys. sure there are some highschool baras out there but normally they are aged into their senior years where they can be expected to be 18 normally at least. Even a lot more yaois qualify as bara before a Shota tag ever would. There are more than a few yaois manta that I could go to gay men and show them and they would be interested in reading it.

Sure porn isn't something we expect to just go up to people and show but I'm honestly looking for a better site at them moment because I don't want someone to think I would ever look at that material or even support a site that has it.

I really want to see it all gone but if that's too much at least remove it from the bara tag make it so you cannot apply both tags make it so there has to be a warning sign on the image so its obvious before you click it. Sometimes the cover will only show the adult male then you click it and there is this illegal material, and not every story on here is pornography there was that one sweet story by Tagame about the uncle from Canada going to Japan for example. I'm afraid to even click some images if they don't have clear pics of adult men simply for the fact that it could load a bunch of images I don't want to see and that again I could get in trouble for.

At the very least separate them if possible make a separate portal entirely but I would love to hear that the site doesn't support this type of content and actively work to remove it.

I personaly am going to post links to this topic in the comments on the normal content of the site I suggest the author does as well this topic needs to get support.

I agree with the mod. Shota is illegal in most places, sure. So is incest. So is rape. So is murder. So are a myriad of other images on this website that depict criminal activity in an erotic light.

I’m not supporting any of the above content by saying this but I’ve been a yaoi fan for over ten year and you just learn to ignore what you do f like. For example, I really, really find traps or feminine boys unattractive and a huge turn off but the sight is full of them! How do I cope? I scroll passed them as though they don’t exist.

Sometimes covers are abiguous about their content, I know. Maybe the site could display the tags alongside the covers and then they could be hovered by the Dead Dove trope?

While I understand what your saying it's not as simeps even in most manga where rape, murder and other criminal activity is depicted the mahorima of those still depict as either illegal/bad. Not saying that all do but you won't find alot where it's left as a question or whether it's bad. Also Shota again really doesn't fit in with Baras definition even if the art style matches. There should be some kind of warning beforehand. I don't like traps and feminine guys aren't my thing either but if I see one I don't feel as if anyone is going to get in trouble for having that on their computer, even with rape it's not like just having those images makes it bad it's the story line and if you really want to delude yourself with rape you could even just say some of it was fantasy play. You cannot do that with Shota just having those characters depicted in those scenes is not legal nor is it moral regardless of the action or reasons being presented just the image itself is the issue.

I would really like if the mod could point out where this site is that has the Shota removed. Or at least respond to the request of putting some kind of warning wrap on the images or giving them their own section. Maybe make the border yellow so it's like a caution signal.

Babies? Damn, I read shotas but I've never seen one with a baby. Although MRM isn't my main reading site so I wouldn't know. That's kind of gross. Although the fact that I read shota is gross already. Yeah, they might want to take that down if it's a baby. I wouldn't read that.

I think I chanced upon that kind of DJ once (two babies and two adults), it was definitely a mindfuck for me. Although, I think it was deleted a day after .

I do read DJs in the shota tag, I guess if we're ever to make this work for all members and their preferences, the tags should be more specific. Tag filtering would be a great help.

Within the terms of your own website, (see "terms of service" under "prohibited content")
    Quote:
    Prohibited Content
    • Child pornography: Any photograph or photorealistic drawing or movie that depicts children in a sexual manner. This includes nudity, explicit sex, implied sex, or sexually persuasive positions.
    • Bestiality: Any photograph or photorealistic drawing or movie that depicts humans having sex (either explicit or implied) with other non-human animals.
If the content we are discussing is explicitly and overty about children--does this not clearly violate that first line? i'm just pointing out the contradiction here.

But it’s not photos or a photo-realistic drawings we’re talking about. A cartoon character’s age isn’t easy to guess.

A popular example is the brothers in Osomatsu-san. The cartoonish style of the show makes them look young but they’re actually in their 20s. Doujinshi mimicking the anime style makes it look like they’re kids to those who aren’t familiar with the show.

I think i understand what you're saying. That this line of the term suggests that to have children as sexual subjects is ok as long as they aren't of a subjectively "realistic" art style or literal photographs/videos.

I am okay with this--but it definitely raises some eyebrows as to who gets to decide what drawings are photorealistic or not.

Your example with 'Osomatsu-san' is interesting--this is an unrealistic example where in which, unlike what i was saying "explicitly and overty about children" has a flipped situation where they are actually 20 but appear otherwise. If i search the shota tags right now, the plot of many of them creates situations of prepubescent boys, specifically characterized as elementary schoolers. More frequently than your example, doujin characters are actually aged down to fit the shotaro complex. So i think your first point is valid, but the second less so.

I’m just playing devil’s advocate here but a common argument I’ve seen is “shota hurts no one”, referring to the idea that real people aren’t affected by the “harmless” illustrations. Some people use that excuse to justify their fantasies as acceptable.

Like you say, who decides what illustrations are considered legal and others not? I think shota should be distinctly separated from the other manga on this website but that removing it completely would open a floodgate where we have to police the whole website. That would just cause argument after argument.

Ahh, you’re totally right about the Osomatsu-san example. As I was writing it I thought I might have taken us off topic. I don’t read doujinshi about the series myself but of course the plots would focus on their adult life. And you’re right about the shota comics. Some of them, especially the abusive ones I’ve started reading before checking the tags are very unsettling in their “realistic” portrayals.

I agree, it's getting out of hand. Every so often I go on the homepage and most..again most of the illustrations are shota.
